Unfortunately I don't know too much about this one.
Quite a few old guard chevrons.
If anyone can id any of the officers or can add anything that would be great. Thanks

One of my favorites.

Bottom right corner after the quote, is dated right before night of the long knives.

Apparently Hitler was reviewing a labor camp on this date and looks tired and preoccupied. The surrounding officers have a look of concern on their faces also imo.

Any additional id's, info, or perspectives welcome.
Thanks

Great podium eagle plus a few deutschland erwache standards top left corner.

With the limited capacity atmosphere, does anyone know the criteria to be invited to this somewhat small event? Thanks

A private photo of what I think to possibly be Sholtz Klink.

Excuse my ignorance on this edged weapon question, but is that the proper dagger (HJ) for a full grown man?

When enlarged details include a golden party badge, sa sport badge, edelweiss cap badges, and a few sa daggers.

Behind Hitler appears to be Himmler, and 2 back from him to the right may be Schaub.

Are there any ink stamps on the back of those pics? I've got 3 TR pics which have a Russian ink stamp on the back... never found out where they came from.

Post them bad boys if you want. Maybe someone will recognize.

No russian ink stamps.
Some of the photos have paper manufacture marks or a brief notation if I'm lucky. Some are competely blank.
Once in a while I will run across a photo with a german ink stamp on the reverse but these seem to be few and far between.

Some russian and other nationality archive photographs I have seen are inked stamped and most press photo's will have this in general.JMO

Here's a couple links, (the first by Robert Noss who I think is very knowledgable on the suject) I have found helpful although not specifically regarding ink stamps:

Dean,

That is the Feldherrnhalle in Munich. Off the picture to the left is where the 1923 march came to an end.

Looking at the pointy helmets, coal scuttle helmets, and a complete absence of swastika flags and armbands and stiff arm salutes, I think it is WWI ceremony or a veteran's ceremony after the war.

Here is a favorite:

These Alsatian dogs have been assigned to train SA men. They've done quite well, in my opinion. Note the lead dog checking for orders.

K9 photo's are very popular imo.
What's not to love when you see man's best friend tooling around in a panzer or parading on the field with pride. The loyalty and honor theme holds true with these animals.
Didn't Hitler have a beloved dog during his service in WWI?

6 photos and cards that came in a group together.
Reverse of one of the postcards read: 'Deutschlands schonste Thingstätte Heiliger Berg bei Heidelberg'.
I'm looking for more info if anyone can add ...thanks.

Here's bits & pieces I found on german wikpedia (translated)-

Heidelberger Thingstätte is one of about 40 Thing places the early days of National Socialism and was built from 1934-35.

Geographically it is the counterpart to the Heidelberger Ehrenfriedhof, of about the same time (1934) on the ants bump, a the holy mountain on the other side of the Neckar opposite ridge, was applied to fallen soldiers of World War Heidelberg.

In the 56 rows of seats, which rise 25 meters diagonally, 20,000 people found space at the opening. The semicircle of the ceremony site (the term Thingstätte had at that time already separated) was opened by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels on 22 June 1935th On this occasion were the only time during the Hitler era, the courts fully occupied.

The Thingstätte said to have been built on an alleged Germanic cult place, which it was issued as part of the Nazi blood-and-soil mystique. The stage should be used mainly for propaganda events. In the following years, there were some ideas about Thing games such as "The Way into the kingdom," or "The Oratory of the work." But soon the Nazis lost the interest in the plant, since the broadcasting represented a more effective tool for disseminating propaganda.

Maybe way off but after no information on this event turned up I wondered if RuSHA influence, racial theory, eugenics, or the fairly new Nurnberg laws may have been a few of the topics of this 1937 hygiene exhibition.

According to wikipedia, prosecutions of some Nurnberg laws didn't begin until after the 1936 olympics due to foreign policy concerns.

The May/June 1937 date didn't seem too far off from olympics closing date.

nice pieces Dean..

yeah that's looks like Darre next to the Propaganda minister!

And it does look a little like Hess behind Himmler, don't think the rank is correct though..

anything on the back? a date?

Gaspare-
Sorry for the delayed response.
Pictured is the back of postcard in question.
The date on the postnark looks to be 10 37 from what I can see.
Thanks for the intrest and input.

Thanks for your comments and observations Gaspare.
When the photo is enlarged the nearest cufftitles looks like Adolf Hitler (my guess anyway).

Looking for branch of service/purpose for this school.
A google search stated it was under SD-HA supervision in 1938.
There is only one ss uniform (blank rune tab) but I can't find anything more. Any help welcome. Thanks

According to my references, the school was built and used to train Trade Union officials from 1930 to 1933. In 1933, it was taken over by the SA, named Reichschule der NSDAP and used to train SA and DAF officials. In 1936, it became the Reichfuhrerschule and trained members of the SS, the SD, and the Gestapo.

Not sure why there's 2 dated (31/12/1939) postal cancellation markings and lines impressed without ink into the front right border.
Maybe a reject due to the lack of ink and no address.

Hi Jerry-
Good explanation on the inkless postal markings.
You're probably right, and as simple and logical as your theory is, I never considered that.
Thank you for the excellent input.

My original thinking was these dated stamps were intentionally placed there to commemorate the event of the new year as this art is geared toward this theme.

Honor temple card.
My guess.... A ceremony where the putsch martyr's coffins (you can see 7 of the 8, see red arrows) were waiting to be placed into the monument.
I think that's Hitler leading down the front steps and Grimminger with the blood flag on the temple's side.

Below are scan of those 3"X4" B&W prints you see at shows. They are really more newspaper photos on glossy paper than real photos. Detail in poor, but subject is interesting

The is Freikorps "Oberland" marching

Meant on Hitler's left...My mistake.
Why the comment about NSKK leader and whats his name?
Those are fantastic photos you added Dave, Thanks.

Here's a small rally photo (Nurnberg?) that I'm trying to date also.
I think the individual with posted red arrow resembles Himmler. When enlarged you can see him and the ss officer in front carrying swords...blurred because of motion...so I can't tell if it's the 1936 model.

Dean,

The TR leaders were certainly a varied bunch. The NSKK leader is Adolf Hühnlein, a man said to be totally without humor, charm or intellect. An early member of the NSDAP, his only noted characteristic was personal loyalty to Hitler.Died in 1942. A car crash perhaps.

Your photo certainly looks like Nurnberg but I have not seen any of that march before.

I think the man to Hitlers left is Ulrich Graf, one-time personal bodyguard of Hitler.
I recognize some of the photos as coming from either 'Adolf Hitler' or 'Deutschland Erwache' photo books.

Seeking information about this postcard with symbols plus signatures on back.
All's I can come up with is 100 year milestone to a school in Passau and maybe turnfest oriented. Thanks

Funeral procession or ceremony??
Any thoughts on what this horse drawn carriage flanked by blood order holders heading to the feldherrnhalle is about.
I thought it was interesting.
Unposted and printed text 'Der 9. November 1935 in Munchen' on reverse.

these last 3 cards are really nice!
Nov. 9th is the failed 1923 take over!,,is that the year printed/type set on the card or hand written printed? In 1939 Nov 9th is also the Nite of Broken Glass!!

That Luftgau IV card is that showing a painting? or a tapestry?

and the last one with Grimminger is really nice!

Hi Gaspare. Glad to see you've made a recovery.

The procession to the feldherrnhalle card has typeset text and from my understanding the luft card was a tapestry in the air ministry.

Here's a nice one imo.
According to an online translation something to do with slavery, but I've also read the meaning was along the lines of never kneeling again.

In need of translation.
Listed on back are the fallen martyr's names. The national colored border really sets it off imo.

The 'slavery' card is some real drama!

That entrance way eagle is really something! The building engineer and Architect really had there jobs on the line trying to get that thing supported! wink

Thanks for the comments. The additional ID's helped out a lot Tristan.

Gaspare, I'm not exacly sure that building even existed in reality. I know exactly what you mean, the entrance does seem massive and somewhat out of perspective.
Right on...that slavery/the kneeing is over card is simple and dramatic with that swaz and deco-like look. I wonder if it pre-dated 1933.

2 small photos to add. Guess they were taken from an building's upper level on Palm Sunday 1934. Must of been something to witness.

Yeah Gaspare, that swaz on the patriot's arm mixing with hammer & sickle in the soviet star above the thundering clouds is set to create some real drama...the perfect storm.
This artist seemed know what was in store on the horizon.

yes another nice one..
You know, with lets say with certain Nazi regalia like tinnies and especially with something so visual like postcards you can see that the SAs importance had become less and less.. By early wartime their influence/power was greatly diminished...

I would think Hitler's will. Amazing something so powerful and key to his rise to power could be weakend so quicckly and effectively.
Night of the long knives sent a loud, clear message.

Any info or input appreciated...(timeframe,unit,location...ect).
When enlarged the man on the left appears to have a blank collar tab and the others seem to have...feldherrnhalle?? No daggers, just sidearms.
What would be the purpose of the blank collar tab in this case?
Thanks

Sorry for the additional photo but for some reason pics seem to be very small these days (info on how to make them larger if possible with the 156 limit would be great). Posting picture closer to try to get more detail at the cost of losing some of the photo.

post 314 & 315..Don't know exact unit.. But they are SS for sure. Their cap devices are the early eagle and 1st pattern [early] skull..

Could the tab be a wolfs hook, or a lightning bolt?

You can always make a large scan then crop one or 2 guys and their upper half to see tabs, board , cap devices..

The Landjahr ran youth camps along similar lines to the RAD and the Odal rune/sword was their emblem.

Great idea Gaspare.

I did this and it appeared to be the number 1 on the tabs and not a wolfs hook as first thought. I could swear there's one soldier (6th from left) wearing a tab with the number 2.
Any idea what unit these numbers represented and what the significance of the blank tabbed guy to the left was?

Tristan- Great info to look into. Thank you for the link and giving me a direction get going in.

Many thanks to both of you for your useful help.

According to Angolia's "Cloth Insignia of the SS", the SS-Fuss Standarten wore tabs numbered from 1 to 125. SS-Oberabschnitte staff wore either blank tabs or tabs with the district name ("Ost", "Nord", etc). You can refer to the gallery "Collar/Shoulder Tabs - SS" in the GDC Reference Library located HERE.

Here a feldherrnhalle postcard with notation on reverse referring to Nov.9,1935.
Ceremony moving the martyrs to the honor temple I would guess.

Close up.
Appears almost everyone is wearing the blood order except one pallbearer in front 3rd from left. In the front of him, close to the lion resembles Grimminger imo.

I'm not sure why the ss general has a band above the cufftile area.
The guy in the center looks something like Speer.

10x13 framed hand done art under glass (bad photo because of it).
The reverse has a cut out in the matting with faded penciled in artist name,location,ect...
To me it also looks like Zum Turken is mentioned.

There is a french translation page attached to the back and some other writing with no idea the purpose of.

Posting the french translation as best as I could get it using google.Sure there may be some errors.

Translation from frech page:

At the foot of the mountain the Emperor Karl is seated, his forehead full of worries.
He sends an eagle to observe and waits for his return with anguish.

In the greatest desperation and misery, a fighter and savior whose intentions are very noble. His action is guided by God.
Never before has such faithfulness existed.

And the eagle spreads its quivering wings.and lands on the small house

What have you seen in the land, tell me my eagle? Does not Germany want to think again?
My Emperor, I have seen in Germany a man who wishes to realize great things.
Fly my eagle and bring strength, perseverance, courage and fidelity to the homeland, for this warrior who has done so many magnificent great things. Let him see again the splendor of Germany.

And the crossed flag salutes the valley range
Heil Hitler! Who gives us freedom
