Hi everyone, I have this badge (?) that looks really neat, but I don't know what it is...American, British, Canadian? No idea. Probably 3x4 inches..Stiff backing, slightly curved, beautiful green felt and heavy gold wire bullion. Black silk on the back, with two pins. It's a...deer? Horse? Please help, thanks in advance...

Guessing here:

This was not a cheap badge looking at size / construction. I am thinking European and maybe Germany / Austria / Hungary or the like based on similar looking work. Not recent either.

It seems to be a stylized horse. If curved enough to fit on an upper sleeve, I would further guess maybe an association with horseback sports. Boar hunting ? Hunting Deer with hounds ?

Alternately someone in charge of horses in a military formation

Andy, Dave, thank you both...yeah, it's a real mystery...hopefully someone on the GDF knows! It looks like it might be green velveteen but that's probably not very helpful right now....I did get it in a mixed lot of American stuff if that makes a difference, but I know it doesn't make it American...Andy, great to hear from you again, I'm thinking you mean the Lipizzaner stallions? Those were beautiful horses!

No markings, just black silk on the back. It looks old. Could it be a trade badge?
