Hi gents

We have a situation in New Zealand where a fake Rohm is up for auction on our local "ebay" site.

Most of us who have tried to tell the seller that it is a fake have been blacklisted, so cannot place any more comments or help.

I emailed Vern and he kindly advised that the blade was from Reddick and the fittings from Marto.

The blade has the Maker mark of R & A Herder Solingen. The blade is plain with no adornments. The fittings are gold oakleaf and the scabbard is leather wrapped.

What I need is a catalogue pic of this showing the blade, pricing etc.

Then we can get a mate who hasn't been blacklisted to place a link so potential buyers are aware it is not genuine.

If anyone can help with a catalogue image etc, it would be most appreciated.

Kind regards

Russ

If anyone also has any images of the Marto fittings in a catalogue, could you please provide as well?

Kind regards

The distinctive grip eagle is clearly a Marto product.

Many thanks Orpo.

The dagger has been listed twice but not re-listed again at this time, it closed earlier today.

Here are the links to both listings.

The seller has added and removed various pics throughout the listings.

If you cant place a link..because of these restrictions..These junk daggers are easy to find, post it for sale on that Ebay site in New Zealand ..and price tag it at $20. Those who are following the junk Rohm dagger sale..will compare the 2..and hopefully should bring questions concerning authenticity. Its the best advice to give without legally naming a person a fraud.

Hi Siegfried

No one is making any accusation of fraud on the listings above.

And, I believe he will not re-list the dagger at the high price tag if he is convinced it is a fake.

It's just that the seller believes it is real - and he cannot be convinced unless it is in black and white. I suspect he has paid a lot of money for this, and he has been fooled or scammed by whoever sold it to him in the first place.

Several of us here in NZ had tried to help him, as can be seen in the questions and answers, but after my first question in the first thread, he came back to attack me, telling me I don't know what I'm talking about. We were all blacklisted, and he did not want to believe we were actually helping him. Hence the threads here and on WAF to get some proof and warn any potential bidders who just like shiney knives...

He has now become a self proclaimed expert in a few days, saying he knows more about these than we do, unfortunately causing him more embarrassment.

However, I hope that the info we can provide will still help him get a refund from whomever stitched him up in the first place.

Kind regards

Russ

I have just read this thread and even though this dagger is junk I am really surprised it was even allowed to be advertised on Trademe. This NZ auction site will not let you sell Nazi items. Trademe has the exact same policy as Ebay.

Hey Jo, what is even more surprising is that it was listed twice, and managed to get through to the end both times.

It's not a Nazi item, it's a fake. Maybe that is why it was allowed smile

NO!!!!! the Trademe Police will take any item off the auction real or fake they don't differentiate and don't even know or care. If it has the swastika emblem it usually is removed within the first day it is listed. The exception is coins and paperwork.

I have received several inquiries about Reddick Rohm's lately. The dagger depicted is clearly a fake throughout. The cross guards are wrong for an honor dagger and are the wrong color. The grip, as noted is postwar. As to the blade, no doubt it is a Reddick. His blades are slightly smaller than the real ones and have a dull greyish look. These are postwar fantasy pieces, often seen with repro Himmler blades as well. They are fairly common in the USA. Reddick repro's come with a variety of trademarks, as a rule. The etching tends to be quite good, but not up to the standards of originals, nor is the crossgraining. Any collector, other than a novice, can spot these things for what they are in a matter of seconds.
