An interesting Sabre with the crowned 'FF' cypher of Friedrich Franz attached to the obverse langet. Also see the unusual ferrule. The blade is etched, but worn and it is non-maker marked Alongside is an Eickhorn IOD89 with similar cypher on the grip.

Beautiful blades Tristan. I think the lions head looks like an Eickhorn as well but I could be wrong because the back-strap looks like a Weyersberg.

Thanks. The scabbard is actually a blued-black one, single ring which would put it about 1910. The camera flash makes it look like a chromed one!

Thank you. Yes, I'm really pleased to have both examples. This actual IOD89 is the one shown in the Hartmann/Herrmann book on Imperial swords.
