Hello Gentlemen,

As soon as Vern has processed my Premium Membership payment I intend to list my inherited SS Full Rohm Dagger here on GDC.
I will attempt to provide as many photos as possible.

It's a great piece that has been hand inspected by the New Jersey expert and authenticated. There are no Gau Marks.

Dad was assigned to ordinance redistribution with The Army of Occupation in Munich after the war and he obviously came across it then. I always remember it being in one of our army footlockers until I hung it on the wall when I was a teenager. I really thought it was cool then. Little did anyone in the family know the importance and value of it until after my parents passed away and I put it on ebay. It went wild then they pulled the listing. They just did it again!

Anyway, stay tuned & thanks!

Mike

Hello Ed, I sold a couple of SS Rohm daggers over the years. I think they are rarer than Himmlers.

Thanks fellas. Vern was kind enough to post several photos in the For Sale listing I put up last week. The dagger has now been sent to the foremost expert for consignment sale. He was the same gentleman who authenticated it years ago for me by hand inspection.

Probably a wise move. Reputable dealers have quite a few clients, usually, and some are well-to-do, being able to afford the higher end items. Considering the dagger, you were offering it for a reasonable price. Even with a commission, you should do well by consigning it to the right dealer.

Hi, Mark,

Good to see you again. Long time. If I am not mistaken, this shot of Houston Coates' stand at a MAX show shows a few of your SA daggers.

Hi Dave, yes those are some of my SA daggers that I gave on consignment to Houston. He has some beauties I gave him now, a "bulldog", an "Early 'A' " ground Rohm and some others that are very minty. I still have about 175 left in my collection. I like SA daggers more than any others and tried very hard and for a long time to get every maker mark. I was very close and then got interested in Allach and cars from the 60's. It is good to see the same old friends here.

I had a beautiful SS Full Rohm, shown in Tom Whittmann's SS book on pages 70-71. I got an offer I could not refuse and sold it for more than twice what my Himmler's brought. I loved the dagger, but you can't take it with you and I am getting older now. It proved to be a very fruitful investment and I know they are more rare than Himmler daggers. Mine was attributed to a Wiking artillery officer. I bought a '67 SS 396 Chevelle from the original owner with the proceeds. I still am active in SA and SS daggers though.

Thanks for the 'welcome back', it has been a long while and I have a lot of old friends on this site.

Dave, no I went to one MAX in Charlotte and had a great time, but the SOS is the only one I can really just drive up to for a few days and drive back since I just live in Nashville, it's only an hour and a half away. I still remain active in some area's like Allach, SA daggers and SS items.

Hi Mark..good to see you back on the forum..and I stopped by Houstons table last year. Alot of great stuff. Do you still have any of those black numbered Hacos we talked about in a thread..that may be at Houstons table? Best Regards to you. Larry

Hi Larry, I have all the HACO SA's I ever bought and I continue to try to buy every one I can. I have not counted them in a while but I think there are 15 or so in my SA collection. I have never seen another maker hand number them inside as HACO did, invariably, inside each one. The same number is on the grip as the tang, written in black ink. Sometimes on the top of the grip and sometimes on the lower part. Same for the crossguards, sometimes on the inside of the upper crossguard but mostly on the inside of the lower crossguard. I really like the individuality of that marking.

Best of luck to you all in this great hobby and thanks to some of you for your assistance over the years.
