Yes as others have said we need better pictures, the code changed in 1939 from S/42 to just 42 in April and this one is after that, the grips should be numbered as well. Take great care not to chip the left grip under the safety when removing.

Here is a 1939 with older S/42 code

Hello, It is a 1939 Mauser with the sear safety on the sideplate making it a police gun. The grips may or may not be numbered, but if numbered, the numbers should match.

It appears to be original finish and in great condition.

Sigalman,

You may have confused my post with Jamie's Luger. Collecting Luger's is a very vast area, I only stick with the TR area and I wanted point out the code change in the 1939 year for a added bit of info for him. I left out the police connection as not to over complicate the one Jamie posted.

You have a good eye to spot the sear safety on mine, I was more than delighted to find it from the Vets son.

I hope Jamie dose post more pics, I have soft spot for luger's and always enjoy seeing new ones found.

Steve,
