Hi guys, long time no see.
Though I stopped collecting years ago a friend of mine told me he had a NAZI knife that his grandfather ( living in Holland) picked up right after the war. He got it from his grandfather and kept it in a trunk on the attick for 40-more years. I asked pictures and soon found out it was a SA Dagger. Now I have been collecting SA for 30 years and stopped 10 years ago but this was a variation I had never seen before having both the makers-mark, the RZM logo and the date on the blade. The dagger shows some age and the nickle fittings are dull. In my opinion the eagle (which has a gold color) has been period changed ( this dagger is NEVER been messed with and comes right "out of the woodwork) and the blade shows some pitting.
The hanger is made of BLACK leather ( No SS-signs on it). Clip shows rust and the usual makers mark.
Now, who can tell me something about th markings and the value.
It shows stuff is still out there, waiting to be discoverd

Here is a very late Mid period marking being dated 1939 for Herder. Your example..may have been at the very end of the Mid period Tranitional RZM production line possibly ending very early in 1940. The RZM logo in the 1939 variant matches..the 1940 logo. The rest of the dagger is typical late period. The silvering on the grip eagle has flaked off..and is common with " some " late period grip eagles. below s a pic of the 1939 variant. Regards Larry

The black leather hanger is from an NSKK dagger and could fetch $100-$125 sold by a dealer. Dagger is low grade late production SA with rust on the blade. Maybe $350 sold by dealer. More like $300.

Most dealers have a lifetime supply of these and they sell very slowly. Tell your friend to put wax or polish on the leather, wax on the blade and grip and hang it on a wall.

Double logos are not that rare and few people seem to collect them. Rusted blades don't help.

The dagger is SA, but the black unmarked hanger is NSKK. How it got there ... who knows?

Yes, the dagger is not perfect. But $300? Really? Let me know if you ever see such a dagger for 300.
And dealers sell it for $350? Show me such a dealer. Please.

Dave I think you are low on your price there, I suspect 2x those #'s. I would buy these for $350 all day long.

I am really surprised, Paul, but I stand corrected.

$600 - $700 for these?

All day long.
These were really hot about 3 years ago and a number of guys were collecting transitionals. They still are more desirable than the straight RZM's.
I will buy every one I can find under $350!!

dagger is not without issue(s) but comparatively speaking it is pretty decent for what one encounters these days. I would suggest that the value is between $450 and $525 if not a double trademark it would be $425 one rarely encounters any collectible conditioned SA RZM daggers for $300 any more at shows etc........unless they are in very poor condition or terrible parts daggers or butchered blades. The sum of their parts...decent blade or handle or scabbard will almost always place them at $250 all day long...decent SA scabbards still routinely bring $200++ all day long on Ebay for those in need cheers and regards, Ryan
