I've recently converted all my war movie DVDs to .avi and .mp4 format.

Over 200 movies. 85% are WWII movies, the rest are WWI, Vietnam, Korea, Rev War, US Civil War, Iraq. Several are 720 and 1080 resolution. The higher resolution ones have subtitles available if you have a nicer DVD player that can read the .SRT (english subtitle) file that comes with the movie. Of course, VLC media player will play the movie and subtitles if you can watch it on your PC/laptop or hook up your laptop to your TV with a video cord you can buy from newegg.com for about $20. Most of the .avi files do not have subtitles available.

Folder size is 200 GB (gigabites). I guess it could be mailed out on an external hardrive disk (EHDD) with a USB attachment if you wanna trade something.

What do you think???

Just watched "Pearl Harbor" again with cheesy Ben Affleck 2 nights ago. I hate that movie when it came out, now seeing it again, it wasn't as bad as I remember. The sappy love story was unnecessary, but they followed key facts and quotes correctly. I still like Pat Morita better as the Yamamoto though in "Tora Tora Tora!"

I remember watching that with my daughters at the movies, I was livid about the non stop love angle after they advertised it is action packed, they seemed to take about the only good 2 minutes of the movie and put that in the preview. Daughters were bored, they were about 8 and 10 at the time it was over their heads, we all actually fell asleep for a while.
But yeah sometimes time and different circumstances change things, I still have a short attention span and disdain for mushy angles in alleged war movies so I doubt if I could sit through it again even now.

I think what made the difference this time was hearing so many patriotic statements, nationalism, courage... even if some of it did come from Ben Affleck. Plus, some of those 40s women were pretty hot lol.

210 movies now, higher percentage of 720p and 1080p as well. Finally got Castle Keep with subtitles and The Bridge. HBO movie "Conspiracy" 2001 is one I hadn't seen before either.

I really like "The Downfall" or "Der Untergang" as they say it in German. I've never seen it for sale on a DVD so i had to download it from the net.

Another classic is Das Boot from the 80's...

I haven't yet, but I want to; it certainly did pretty well at opening weekend. That's usually a good sign for war or period movies...but I'd also like to hear some reviews!
