Updated the U.S. Army Air Service pilots wings to add 3 more examples, identify the makers, and replace a bad example.

Rearranged the U.S. Army Air Service pilots wings and added 3 more makers. The 3 piece wings on a cloth covered backing were early. One piece wings were approved in 1918. All of these wings are rare since many pilots preferred the bullion cloth wings.

Well done, Vern! This makes an excellent reference point.
Does anyone know what this one is? It is marked Murchison N.Y.C. Newark Sterling
I've had this forever and no longer remember where it came from. Any help would be appreciated.

I think Denny's pin is a sweetheart pin, Army Air Corps. Vern's badge is the hat badge of the aviation air cadets. Same design, different uses. The officers wore smaller gold & silver version on their uniform lapels.

Air Cadet cap badges measure 2 5/8" to 3" wide. Army Air Corps lapel insignia measures 1 1/8" wide. What's the size on yours, Denny?

Added 6 wings for the CPT and CAA/WTS - civilian pilot training programs in operation from 1939 to 1944. There are many civilian instructor wings around but these were part of an authorized government training program.

Trying to find out what the above insignia signified. Officer insignia was bronze and silver, enlisted insignia was all bronze. Insignia shown is for officers. Numbered from left to right - Top row 1- In period photos, this insignia was worn by AEF pilots during WW I. 2- Worn by personnel in the Aeronautical Division. 3- Worn by personnel who completed aircraft flight training. Bottom row 4- Unknown 5- Unsure, in period photos this appears to be worn by aircraft mechanics and crew. 6- Worn by personnel who completed balloon flight training. Better or more accurate information would be greatly appreciated
