I'm not quite sure just what this one is, because the hilt is different than I would normally expect for British WW II. Does the blade have any etching or a maker? Best Regards, Fred

What Mark says and posts is what I am familiar with. With the one he posted looking like it might even be from the Wilkinson company which would be appropriate for the period. And the Eickhorn for some reason looking more postwar, and maybe even an export model for .............. ? (Some searching needed here.) With the etching (If any) possibly some help in getting a better sense of where it might best fit in. Regards, Fred

I have an original Eickhorn catalogue "swords for the British empire", which I believe is pre war. There is no sword offered for the Air force.
The eagle on the original sword looks more Dutch. At least it looks like the same eagle they have on the dagger crossguards. There is no Air Force sword in the pre WWII Netherlands Eickhorn catalogue and the dagger is definitely post war. While a guess, I go with Dutch Air Force.
Beautiful sword.

Here is an old photo. sorry about the quality. while less stylized, the swooping head of the eagle and the same face is there.

Jim, The Netherlands/Dutch is where I was looking as it seemed familiar, and what you posted works for me. Regards, Fred

I did an internet search on Netherland Air Force sword and they display several photos of the similar grip.
I love the Dutch edged weapons. they are ;quite distinctive.
