My new book about the daggers and knifes of the Hitler Youth and NPEA appear in December 2012. The book has 553 pages.

A very big thank you for helping to Ron Weinand and John Merling. In the book, also for the first time the Jeugdstormdolk the Dutch NSB are discussed in detail. The book is available from December to 89 - € + shipping costs are purchased. Sorry for the small picture, I do not get the larger merged here.

Greetings Ralf ralfzx7r@web.de www.dienstdolch.de

Paul, a english version is not planned at moment. To read the book you must speak/read a litle big german, a lot of phantastic pictures from the daggers, knifes, dokuments, shool usw. are in the book. My friend Edvin van Veelen has write a phantastic chapter about the Dutch Jeugdstormdaggers... Ralf

Where do you order it at? And will there be any US dealers of it.

Looking forward to your 3rd book, Ralf.

How many pages are dealing with the HJ and how many about NPEA?

Best regards,

Herman

Herman,
Perhaps you should speak with Ralf about DJ knives.

Hello Bob,

I have not heard anything from Ralf after I have sent him a couple of pictures of Eickhorn HJ's... maybe a year ago or so...

Does anyone has an idea what is gonna be in this book?

How many pages will be dealing with the HJ and how many about NPEA?

Best regards,

Herman

Above he says 553 pages, but no idea on percentage breakdown. I sent pics of over 30 NPEAs to him, but I would imagine there would be more HJ material than NPEA.

John

Ralf told me last month that he is making 700 books and will start to send them out this December. He will also number them. I have already secured 2 references for myself and my son. it would be best to send him payment before these books run out. I know other collectors already have told me that they also have paid for theirs. Larry

Thanks Larry, for the suggestion.

But GDC members should not worry: there will be more than enough copies available, trust me! whistle

Best regards,

Herman

This sounds like an excellent book to have & I would love to see the pictures of the NPEAs & HJs. The problem is I don't speak German fluently & won't be able to get the info out of it that I would like. An English version would be perfect.

I probably won't get it because because of this factor. Sadly I have enough coffee table books that show off beautiful daggers but add little to my knowledge base. I'm aware this sounds like a defeatist attitude & I'm not proud of it but there you have it.

Gentlemen,

I got my copy today and was very exited to unpack my book: 550 pages big!

Unfortunately I must say that I am quite disappointed after handling the book for just over 30 minutes:

- there are about 300 pages about NPEA and only 150 about HJ knifes

- of which exactly 6 about the wonderful early knifes (also called "honor bayonets") made by Carl Wüsthöf, but the book does not even mention the maker ????

- no overview (pictures) of all the makermarks that are found on HJ's. This part made the SA book by this author, so very interesting, because it permits collectors to look up all their SA daggers.

- as a result also no rarety ratings for the makers...

- the same division into 3 periods of fabrication (like for SA's) was made, which -in my opinion- does not make any sense for HJ's: because some makers used only RZM marks as early as 1935, while others still used double markings in 1942...

- some questionable pieces and makersmarks appear in the book...

All in all, I would not call this a study (for the HJ part), but only a showcase.

Fortunately, there are some beautifull pictures shown in the book, especially from a couple of top quality HJ-knifes of our friend John alias "Vintagetimenow" and also some interesting period images of HJ members.

Best regards,

Herman
