Hi,

I have an SS degen whose owner is listed as having received two awards with which I'm unfamiliar. Unfortunately, my only reference comes from a reference that has already been translated to English (but perhaps not too well translated).

The two awards are listed as:

Land Order

Honour Cross for Front Camphor

Can anyone translate these to more familiar awards?

Thanks,

Harvey

Not a medals expert, Harvey, but I think the first is likely the medal for the Memellandes campaign, March 22, 1938. The second is almost certainly the Ehrenkreuz fur Frontkampfer, or Hindenburg Cross (WWI).

Grumpy is right with the 2nd.
"Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer"

Land order....
could be:
Memelland March 22. 1939
Austria, March 13. 1938
or Bohemia and Moravia(Sudetenland) October 1. 1938

Depends on the SS officer's background. Obviously old enough to be in WWI with the Frontkampfer badge. If he was an officer then, perhaps the Land Order was an award from one of the German kingdoms or principalities for service in that war. That term is usually used in ID documents for such an award.

I am familiar mostly with Polizei identity documents and those list the medals for entry into Austria or Czechoslovakia as the Erinerungsmedaille for the specific date.
