Hi guys, a friend asked me an opinion about this ring.
For me it's a fake, but I never saw this pattern of fakes with black enamel.
What do you think about?

Well known postwar fantasy.

A member has been writing/emailing me telling me about this fantastic ring he got with a grouping. Everything else in the group was authentic. The ring has the proper 'hallmarks' has good looking age and you can tell it was, when new a 'quality' ring..
- SO, I am answering him here with this old topic and comments :

This is the same pattern ring as in this topic and has the same 'hallmarks'..
The ring is not a copy. It is a fantasy ring. No such ring was ever produced before or during the 3rd reich era. It has only been produced postwar.

I don't care if the enamel is good. Some of the early/1st gen did have real enamel in them. Some were even 2 piece! Enamel in them or none, one piece or 2 it is still a fantasy ring. This ring has a 'sister' ring. Exact same band but with SS runes on it,,again, total fantasy ring. There are no authentic mass produced for retail SS rings with the SS motto on them.

As far as the hallmarks. [His ring has the same as the ring in this topic]. Anytime you see SS runes in a diamond it is a fantasy stamp. No matter what it is on,,rings, mess kits, medals, silverware, it is fantasy.. DRGM,,yes a good known mark. But as far as jewelry it was not used unless it was on/part of a unique attachment device, not just a ring band itself...
IF you do searches here you will find more of this pattern. Also on other sites , they are there with info about them.

Be happy everything else is authentic!,,you have a wearer at least!

Absolute fantasy piece, common Ebay fake. One point though, G, I do have an authentic late teens, early twenties German ring with the DRGM stamped on the band, but I would call this the exception rather than the rule

Here's the ring G, 1918 dated post WW1 for the German Soldiers, Sailors and Workmen's party. 800 silver and enamel. The DRGM mark is not super strong, but legible. Only legit ring I've ever seen with one.

I am a little confused.
DRGM is Deutsches Reich Gebrauchs-Muster. The "little brother" of the patent. It protects only the "Gebrauch"-"using" in english- that is always a technical Feature, never a design.
Designs are protectet bei the "Geschmacksmusterschutz", most visible marked like "ges. gesch." or similar.

So in my opinion a ring marked with "DRGM" is either wrong marked in period r not period.
Otherwise this ring looks on the pic fine to me.

A mystery confused

Odal,,you are exactly correct!,,a tech feature,,a new type device, attachment, etc.

So this is a interwar period ring [between WW1 and 2]... The cartouche field looks very shallow. Maybe [?] they are trying to protect a revival of what looks like neillo? is the only thing I can think of. Or as Odal mentioned done incorrectly, a mistake..

Looks very scratchy in the band,,maybe someone tried to resize with sandpaper? or ? Is the whole inner band like that?, there a join seam on it?
