Gents,

Even though I was more of a "dinosaur-guy" as a kid, I did have my fair share of soldiers and knights, too.

Thanks for showing, brings back memories of times a bit more 'low-tech..' grin

A couple of pages from an old Elastolin catalog, wish I had a full set of these old units.

Best!

Bill

Bill,

Wish I had kept my set that I had as a kid. We really played with them back then didn't we. Would leave them in the rain, mud and dirt and would take turns blowing them up with dirt clods. It's all about computer games now.

Here are some of my pieces.

A set of the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders with box. Taken alongside a dirk of the same unit.

I was surprised to learn some of these have moving parts.

I am also aware they are reproducing these (not made of dead), but they are also reproducing the box.

These I have are original.

These we think are French but would like some opinions. Specifically we think they are French Foreign Legion.

Those are nice! The machine gun reminds me of the French St. Etienne machine gun? Which was used by the French in WWI

Wow, Jim. Fantastic.

The top ones are French Foreign Legion. Part of Britains set 2095*
http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/11633823_britains-set-2095-french-foreign-legion

The blue helmet Soldiers I don't know but will keep looking

The MP's are from Britains set 2021*

The mounted knights are Britains early ones from the 1930's. Don't know the set number but I will look it uo

Just as with daggers, buy the books! Here is the one for Britains:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Great-Book-Britains-1893-1993/dp/1872727328

Dave
* Those are the likeliest set numbers. Britains reused figures for larger or small sets.

Jim your Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders are Guardsmen in the wrong box if they were highlanders they would be kilted and look like the figure on the box lid

AJ, that is truly disappointing to me but I appreciate the information. Fortunately I can return items to this seller.

Dave, than k you for the id's. The book you reference is over $300. surely necessary for the collector, but I think I am into this a little casual for that kind of money.

Still, I would have known the guards were in the wrong box if I had the book.

Thanks to everyone.

All are made of solid lead and nicely hand painted. Thanks for looking in and for your interest.

Jim,

I bought the special edition which is over $500 now. It included 4 unique figures.

The basic reason is that all the ones I have shown you were bought by me aged 10-12 when we lived in England 1953-55. I have replaced a few broken figures in various sets, but otherwise they are childhood memories

The pickup with the two bikes in the back. Nice. smile

The gold tank looks like a "Buck Rogers" or off to the center of the earth type vehicle.

Here is an interesting lead knight by Cherilea. Vintage mid 1950's

This is from their Baronial Series which is very hard to find. It is not really a series, just the same model painted in many heraldic versions

The interesting part is that is that there are five separate parts.
