Again a new come-in these days.
Ring in top-condition. Brass, some silvering glas-stone.
Ring is 5 piece. Band, shoulders, cartouche and stone.
Ring-diamater about 19 mm.
Stone about 12 x 16 mm.

Thanks svenga! Yes, an real nice ring and not really cheap. But also a rather rare ring and so i think too the selling price wasn`t to expensive. Its the only pattern of westwall rings i know that uses the german type for the inscription. I also think some day you have reached the point that you have to look for the rarer rings to try to complete your collection.

Here not a ring, but a little Westwall box. Glad to have it in the collection.
Yes, a bit rusty inside .
At this moment the rust is covered with Ballistol oil....sure it will be look better.

Our forum member BadBob also has a Westwall box in clear glas transparent as I remember well.
As a touristic item it had a general purpose:
I can imagine, it was to put in it a little photo, or small letter.
Maybe they brought/send it home by mail as a greeting present from the Westwall....

In later years these style boxes have often contained rosemary beads and had a picture of the current pope as a tourist item, i have also seen one with a picture of stalin.
Very envious with your ring Odal, even more now i realised i had unknown funding i could of used at the time!

Nevertheless.
Here a come in from these days. Ring is brass with heavy silverplating and has an "E *"? mark. Maybe too and not so pefect stamped "F *".
I think this is one of the rather rare originals of an often faked pattern.
All opinions are welcome.

Hi Odal, just a remark.
What I see, is a difference in quality. The leaves aside are rather smooth and at the front, the pebbles and certainly the text are crisp.
Let´s wait for more opinions to this nice ring here.
I give it a good chance.

Odal,, that IS a rare original of an often faked pattern. The fakes are very good, but not this good  So far nothing on the maker stamp but maybe in the future.

I also haven't seen this ring before.
For me, for now, more questions then answers;
Is the number something military/departement( Abteilung)?
Does the name Westfront mean ,not only the Westwall, but also the Atlantic wall?

i think the number inside is the number of unit of the former owner. Sometimes we se such personel markings in rings.
From the year 1939 i think it is primordial a westwall souvenir ring.

I have the same but instead of WestFront it has a Infantry unit on it!
I've seen 10 or so of these,,,always zinc,,about half had that same unit [?] marking in band.. I'll try and get a photo.

I've had this ring since the mid 1970s.. Usually don't show it to keep the counterfeiters away.. Guess we'll see how hard they really do look here eventually!
Same cartouche,,different band,,diff. inside.. My Uncle said it was a 'flat silver' finish when he got it wartime,,probably had a silver wash....
