Hello all,

Would anyone critique and express their opinions about the books by Dietrich Maerz as 'B&D' Publishing?

I am interested in a few of his books and also his quarter annual medal magazine entitled "International Medal Collector" but some seem to be a bit pricey.

I am specifically interested in his work 'The German Cross' priced at $130.00, The Iron Cross 1st priced at $150.00 and The Knights Cross priced at $120.00 which as I say are a bit pricy and before buying I would like some feedback about quality, authority and content.
However, I realize that this is 2011 and there are no more books at $19.95. I just don't want to be buying another of the typical plagiarized books and copied photos.

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Hey John. Great to see ya at the show!
I think you got the best deal of anyone selling "cash" at 2x face value!! grin
This hobby has progressed far beyond the old Johnson books and Angolia references. They were fine 30 years ago.
Dietrich has done a 1st class job. Picturing every maker and variation in detail. It certainly gives one confidence in making a purchase decision. No longer are the "secrets" there just for the experts!!
At $300-$500+ for an EKI this is a worth while investment.
Finally, People tell me often "the Nazi stuff is so well faked..". Perhaps so, but NO other hobby is so well documented. The well studied collector can still buy with confidence.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your thoughts and input which seems to be aligned with several others.

As such, I am intending to go forward with my purchases and hopefully, I will be so well informed that no longer will I have a need a 'Body Guard' or my Pepper Spray.

Thanks also for your cash exchange which now puts you into the category of the 'money exchangers' Next might be "Lakesidetrader international buyers of "Gold & Silver & Daggers"

Thanks again, much appreciated and as always, nice to see you and your son.

John
