Here is another #11 Neutral etch with a dedication to Komp 3 of Inf Regt 3. It has a Pi hilt, is on a long blade and has a slightly different etch with added embellishments around the dedication. It is surprising how many slight etch variations there are. I also show you my 3 #11 dedications to Inf Regt 3, ll different from each other.

Thanks, Paul.

Two more to go.

As stated before, there are two major versions of the No 6 Infantry etch, the earlier on and the one listed in the catalogue is the No Oak version, an infantry soldier holding his K98 rifle walking through a field. If there is a unit dedication, it is typically found on the reverse side as a one line entry, as in this case.

However, look at the lettering on the dedication, it is in a script not the usually found block lettering.

And, it is with a Pioniere style hilt.

The other version of the #6 etch has added oak leaves to embellish the soldier walk through the fields.

Machine Gun Btl 9 is the dedication on this blade and is the typical reverse one line dedication. But, compare it to the one that I showed way earlier in this thread, where the dedication is part of the original #6 obverse etch.

This also is on a Pi hilt.

Machine Gun Batl 9 seems to have been a lucrative unit for a Pack etched bayonet salesman.

I have in my collection 5 versions of this unit dedication:

-on a Neutral #11 etch with a Pi hilt
-on a No Oak #6 Infantry etch with block lettering on reverse Pi hilt
-on a No Oak #6 Infantry etch with script lettering on reverse Pi hilt
-on an Oak #6 Infantry etch with block lettering on reverse and Pi hilt
-on an Oak #6 Infantry etch with script lettering on the obverse inside the #6 etch

What a great hobby, eh?

John

Once again John thank you for sharing your collection...super duper!

Your collection could probably fill a couple of volumes if you ever did a book on the subject.

Sharing is what makes this hobby so great.

Too bad that I cannot edit the thread title... I cringe every time I see 'Eyched', but I guess it is better than 'Itched'.

Thanks to my good friend, Ivan, I now have a long blade version of the Pack #8, small Flak etch.

The #8 isn't easy to find at all, but when it shows up it is invariably on a short blade. I already showed you my two versions, a short bladed, single etch with a stag grip and a short bladed double etch.

Here is the long blade single etch version.
