For some reason I like Kolonialbund pins. Like everthing else I am collecting them by maker.
I have the following TM's, have you got or seen anything else.

I have two, one is H with F&B the other is L not in a circle, both Ges. Gesch. marked. If I can get the scanner to cooperate I will post images.

I didn't know Riechskolonialbund was a military org. I thought it was more a civil or political org.

So what is over the right pocket and what are the ribbons over the left pocket, is that a Russian front medal on left pocket.

Thanks for showing this to me, I had no idea they had uniforms. I wonder what kind of bayonet they wore?

I suspect that we will find some differences on the fronts of these between makers as well. I seem to remember that some have large pebbling & some very small seperate dots.

This was the colonial military veteran organization that was in existance prior to the Party coming to power. The uniform was sand colored corduroy with the red/white/black Imperial colors for shoulder boards and cords and blue piping for Deutsches Südwest Afrika. They wore their old Imperial swords and bayonets. When all the veterans organizations merged into the NS Bund, the colonial veterans passed their colors and traditions on to the Ordnungspolizei. You will sometimes see photos of the Polizei Traditions units wearing the Southern Cross on their Police uniforms.

These guys were military veterans of the Deutsche Schutztruppen. There were also civilian non-uniformed folks who belonged to the Reichskolonialbund of course.

I believe they did have pins that just had the Southern Cross without the swastika. Those would be pre-Nazi and post-1945. I think the organization remained in existence after the end of the war. There were also a couple of star shaped badges with a lion (for military I believe) and an elephant (for civilian service).

Here is the police version of the Southern Cross that was worn on the police uniform after they received the Colonial Schutztruppe flags and became Colonial Police traditional companies.

Reichskolonialbund! Awesome! Lets revive this! The 1st poster said it YEARS before I even knew about it (which is not very long *LOL*), but I like this Kolonialbund things too? Maybe its the tropical images that surrounds it all.

I have some pins? Reckon you guys are tired of these though, but, how 'bout 2 pics + a pamphlet to show? Anyone know who the guys in the pic are?

Did anyone find out about the maker(s) of the Bund-pins yet? Or is that still a dark secret?

You got quite a collection and would never get sick of seeing more.. Sometime you'll have to post everything in the collectors showcase forum. How long have you been collecting? Those are some nice stickpins and lapel pins. I haven't run across to many of them.

And the Taschenbuch is quite awesome, it tells much about what RKB was, did + how. Its fun browsing through it. AND, it displays SO cool

As for yer question? How long ... I hear the questionmark, I think? It leads back to when I was surprised with some stuff I "found", Blank gaze at some evil swastika'd thingies without knowing WHAT expression to make. I'd have to count from the date, but, I guess I wont be able to say much more then this. And Im sure THAT is even too much. I had some way bigger reply typed up, but, CTRL+A/DEL'ed it ... Ive been SO burned, badly, by being gullible.

K, which maker marks in particular?
The mark of a large H with an F and B within, is in all likelihood for the firm, Ferdinand Hoffstätter, Bonn.
Always happy to see more pins when you have time.
Can you zoom in on the pictures?

Well this been a long time overdue. New shots of the Reickskolonialbund things and some new additions in there too. Theres a Taschenbuch, with much info on the RKB, very interesting! Also 2 shots of a couple of Reichskolonialbunders. A pamphlet is there, this draws attention for Lebensraum and Heim ins Reich, and that the way to get this is in the colonies. Btw the RKB was ended in 1943, it was no longer a Kriegswichtige Tätigkeit. It was almost ended before, a few months after it was formed. Germany had no colonies left after WWI, so, the RKB was more like a political statement and active in media. Germany wanted their colonies back! The bund goes back to 1925, but it had another name then. In 1933 this was renamed to Reichskolonialbund, and was made part of the national socialist system in 1936. Herr Ritter von Epp we see in shot number 2 looking seriously kolonial there, also a nice gold partybadge on the jacket, was the leader of the RKB. He didnt form it, that was Henrich Schnee. The Von Epp photo is in the Taschenbuch. On top there, a nice Heft, about the German plans/ideas to reclaim the colonies, and to get even more colonies ofcourse. Shot 3 - 5, 2 nice Mitgliedsabzeichen, enamel at the front, marked at the back. The short pin, marked with "S", the long pin, marked with "FR" over a large "N"?

2 Amtsträgerabzeichen, 1 is in silver the other in gold. The gold Abzeichen surely NOT in good condition! Reckon it was there indeed, right where the bomb struck! Ouch .. These Amtszeichen came in bronze, silver and gold. The pins here are both by the same maker. Thanks to Joe, we know that probably is Ferdinand Hoffstätter, Bonn

A nice tinnie for the Reichskolonialtagung in Vienna may 16 to 18 in 1939. Its in Tiëste 2010 edition, page 1029 of book L-Z. There were 2 big Reichskolonialtagungen, yes just 2. This in Wien was the 2nd. The first was in Vienna, a year earlier. Se next post. There was a Kolonialschau in Wien in 1940. Not sure what the difference was with a Tagung? But somehow its called different.

And 2 more tinnies, for the Reichskolonialtagung in Bremen, 1938. Bremen was sometimes called Stadt der Kolonien. This is in Tiëste also, on page 137 of the A-K book. Tiëste tells this comes in 2 versions; bronze and silver. Here are 2 bronzes, BUT, with some differences! The photo in the Tiëstebook is not very big, and it doesnt show which version it is? But these 2 bronzes differe A LOT. You can see it very clearly in the pics. Look at both shields! The stars? Are different positions! Also the swastikas. And the background of the stars; 1 tinnie has stripes, the other little dots. Obvious things like fatter lettering and the birdsdetails not even mentioned. The background of the stars alone, both can be right! If you look at the shieldlogo of the Forderung des Dritten Reiches Heft above, that has stripes too! And other magazines or things use dots as well. So, these tinnies are the same, but theyre NOT! anyone else has this tinnie? And what version is it? How are your details? Anyways, enjoy!

Nice examples K, Look at the field behind the stars on my solid aluminum example of the Reichskolonialtagung in Bremen tinnie, three different variations. I assume three different manufacturers. That must have been a large meet?
Mine is silver with tarnish.

Joe that is a great tinnie again! And a 3rd variant! Awesome! And YES it was a big meet! By december 1938, the year of that Tagung, there were over a million members of the Bund! And when it ended in 43, the Bund had over 2 million members, with over 50.000 Amtsträger! So, it was very very big organisation. Ofcourse maybe they didnt all go to the Tagung but surely A LOT of them did!



Yeah eeerrrmm, I got that post mixed up a bit, sorry! There were 6 big Reichskolonialtagungen; Frankfurt in 1933, Kiel in 1934, Freiburg 1935, Breslau 36, Bremen 38 und Wien in 1939.



And that needs straightening out too! That was NOT Vienna but Bremen ofcourse, Vienna was the 38 Tagung. Sorry again ..

We saw an enormous SW Afrika rkb flag well aged, great condition at last yrs MAX pretty sure it was gone when we cruised back to see it- great price I think too it was gorgeous.
