I have question that maybe some of the bayonet experts can answer. Last local gunshow I came across a firemans' bayonet that had the following features: Nonremovable throat on scabbard. Nonremovable buffer pad made of felt. Scabbard was narrower than usual. The frog lug was noticeably shorter than usual.
My question is, has anyone observed any reproductions of these bayonets on a regular pattern like that experienced with German daggers?

Manfred,
While I've never held one in hand, I have noticed a number of reproduction faschinenmessers in recent months on Eban. I spoke with one of the sellers who informed me they were coming in bulk out of China. Another forum member here mentioned on an older thread that he was aware of similar units coming out of former Eastern Bloc countries, not really a surprise there. Many of the pictures I've seen have showed what appeared to be similar detail to originals although I suspect the overall quality and weight to be noticeably different from period originals. I'm certainly interested in picking one up, just for reference sake, but haven't had the opportunity to pick one up cheaply yet. I figure these units will start flooding the local shows in the not too distant future.

I have seen the same on eban. There will probably be some at the MAX. If they are cheap I will buy one and submit pictures to this forum.
