In approx. 10 days we will be stepping into a new year. Gentlemen, what is your most satisfactory acquisition in 2005 ?

Major overdraft ;-) best blade is possibly my Austrian NCO ersatz, but ask again tomorrow and it may change, this year has seen a steady stream of very rare items coming into my hands

Keith,
A good thread. I suppose my most satisfactory acquisition this year was a minty East German KM87 tool bayonet. I have been looking for one of these critters for some time. Now I have to look for something else.

Good thread topic. I picked up a few nice rare maker fire bayonets but this one stuck in my mind as a favorite for 2005, stag gripped HJ honor bayonet by Wüsthof/Gladiatorwerk with HJ motif etched pommel and SS motto etched blade.
Happy New Year all, God bless us, everyone.

Thanks Keith and Carl for nice words, it looks like i have got a good item, not only datas, haha. To John, great looking 44cul, certainly the last matching piece, but we have a 0095d piece in dbase in a unmarked scabbard. Sorry, but its probably not the last piece, but great one. For all members of this forum Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 06. best regards,Andy from Slovakia

Skyline
By Waynes book both styles were made.
Nice piece, except for pictures in reference books I have never seen one like yours. Wayne said there were not many made (not popular???).
I have been looking for a trademark like yours (with name around Lobster) for a long time. Can't seem to find one in good shape.
Happy Holidays TKissinger

Without any doubt the "Ehre, Kraft,Freiheit" etched bayonet by EICKHORN, exclusively produced for the Reichs-school of the party at Feldafing am Starnberger See (formerly led by the stoorm troops until the Röhm purge) was for me my most interesting and satisfactoring aquisition during this year in this line.

I´ve been looking quite some years for one of them. I am sorry that the reduced pics are not better. Merry Christmas and peace for all.

Merry Christmas to all from Steve in Colorado stede44@comcast.net! I hope Santa is good to you... collecting has been slow for me this year as cash is rather tight(daughter in college, mother in nursing home). I did get this at an auction for $40- one of the less common ersatz bayonets. AC #50 in his book. The photo doesn't show it but the obverse grip panel is shaped like the 98/05 and is pinned in three places. The panel includes the crossguard and muzzle ring. The blade is unmarked except for a tiny 'crown over 16' on the spine. The scabbard has remnants of thick green paint, especially under the frog areas. The pic makes the blade look pitted but in fact its gorgeous, just a bit of staining- not bad at all for (nearly) a century!

Wow ! Stede this is wonderful. I guess you didn't get his from eBay, they don't have this kind of bargain anymore. Nice hit. Keith

Nice bayonet, I had a chance at the MAX show a few years ago but waited to long. They really have increased in price the last couple years. Thanks for showing.

Keith, that is a GREAT set of WaA !! I love to see errors made by people who are controling other people's work... imagine if "Durkopp" or serial number has been stamped in reverse... i don't think Mister WaA would have agreed and accept the bayonet... Happy new year !
If it's '44 dated, I need it!

This is my favourite bargain of 2005. There have been some dispute about the designation and so far the yathagan is known by Danish collectors as Danish Shooting Society 1865. It will fit a Liege produced rifle. The T-mortise has a long guide slot, muzzlering is 21 mm and blade is offset to hilt by 5 mm faciliating bayonet being fixed on rifle with scabbard This specimen is from the first production run. Ricasso is marked with King's Head and pommel tip, crossbolt and spring is marked with serial number "2". Judging from known serials only 50 seem to have been produced - all with steel scabbard. Second production run has no maker's mark and is serialed on spine. Probably 100 were made - with leather scabbards.
