Hello, today i want show you a very rarity Gau Stamp SA for Sachsen on a crossguard from a Haenel SA Dagger from my collection. I never see befor a Stamp with a big "A". I meet Mr. Thomas Johnson in Stuttgart at the IWB Show 2007, and show him the Dagger. And he sayed the same, its a very rarity Gau stamp on a nice Dagger. Gruß Ralf ( Mikatim) www.dienstdolch.de

Updated ! Thanks everyone.
Carl Haas ??
Also, I think that SA in the above photo may not be a gau mark.

Dave, on the Haenels, I've seen that variant larger SA Gau mark on quite a few. Just on Haenels though.

Dave it´s the same size on the gau mark as on John´s fantastic Haenel ! Looks a little bigger in that closeup and angle on my photo though! Hakan

Usually the Sa mark has a small letter a instead of a capital letter A. The far left one is SA, the one next to it is Sa.
Here's a picture, I'll have to get a close up at home.

I noticed that there is a C. Linder listed with out a Gau. Here is my C. Linder Solingen Merscheid with an Ns Gau.
I tried to upload but got a "disk Quota exceeded" message. To make matters worse when I hit the "go back" button, all my previously typed text was gone. That always happens!

Any idea for the premium this adds to the dagger price for the rarity?

I hope others respond to this question.
To me, the major factors in the value of an SA dagger are the maker's mark and the condition. The gau marks is secondary, but that is me. If the MM and condition were what I was looking for, then a rare gau mark would would add a bit to my offer.
As I said, other collectors see things from different angles and I hope they speak up.

I have a JA Henckels marked OST. I'm told that there are not many Gau marked OST which the above list confirms due to most fell into Russian hands.

I just received an SA dagger from my grandfather , who brought it home from WWII. It has been in a box in storage for 50 years. It is an August Bickel with Mi hilt mark.

Just picked up this nice early Wolfertz. Before I sell it I wanted to get the Gruppe mark noted for your list. It appears to be a "P" (Pommern), but the stem is struck so weakly it's almost indiscernable.
Regards!

Hey Dave any chance of you updating the Gau mark rarity list? many members have added more Group marks since the list was first created. Larry Oh BTW SKYLINE THAT IS A SCREAMING EXAMPLE OF A Bismark maker. Nice
Also for all future postings I think it would be beneficial to post a photo of the maker and Group mark together.

Hi, Joe,
Thanks and welcome to GDC
Dave Thanks Dave.. Glad to be here... Just so Everyone knows... I am a collector of all things WWII... Nothing to small... Guns, Uniform, helmets, daggers, Paper items, Home front items.. Etc... and I like sub catagories to my collecting.. such as Food, Music and Christmas... But anything WWII I enjoy collecting. Right now on my list of sought after items is a German Tropical Tunic and a Walther PPK. Once I get this sight figured out I'll post more...

Well, Joe,
You came to the right place. We've seen most things in militaria over the years, but we'd love to see your stuff.
Max image size is 176 KB and it sometimes a pain to resize pictures. We have been trying to find software updates that include automatic resizing, but no luck yet.
