Agree with you, Gaspare. The demise of John is a loss to our community. A huge knowledge has been gone.

Appears to be an authentic HR.
Kessler? is that correct name?

Yes, "Keßler" and the "ß" stands for "ss" (2 "s").

I too had heard the collection was sold, perhaps at auction?

Yes. It was a special section at hermann historica. Listed as pepera collection, really quite impressive. It can be viewed through their archived past auctions, but you have to create a login.

Hi Martin-
Mr. Don Boyle and I were looking at your website on my phone at the max last weekend...Gaspare started the thread here last week pertaining to your site, and that you were seeking info on one particular ring and that there is a book in the works? New honor ring book?
Mr. Boyle mentioned he'd seen a picture of a pile of rings, this must be it... Mr Boyle didn't mention whether these were authentic or not, nor did I ask, and I'm not raising it as a question of authenticity either- that's another discussion altogether...Im just curious as to what your site is about? (especially since we can't read Czech-) And the (is it) "Darovaku?" ring? What is the story with that ring?

Hi,
all the rings are authentic and 99% of them saw Don Boyle. Yes, I´m finishing with the new book on Totenkopfring. It will be in Czech language, but full of photos. I have 23 rings to date and profile of all 23 bearers will be published in that book.
For example:
F.X. Schwarz
Karl Ullrich
Herbert Schulze
Robert Gies
Emil Klein...

Take a look at this photo - Don "King Ring" Boyle with half of my collection wink

"Darovák" means "The ring which was donated" by Himmler. It is Czech slang smile

I want to add this here ,,so some who didn't know john will realize what a wonderful collection he had and was a good guy... Him and Joe W. spent their own money and had some of the first testing done on the HRs..

A short while ago here and on WAF there was much controversy about the HR. Don this, Don that. Craig that, this guy that. Extreme microscopes in the hands of those who could not interpret their readings correctly.. Rings are not medals/awards.. They are different in many ways ans the HR the most strange.

Thru Andy I met Don and became friendly...I respect Don,,he was a pioneer of the HR....

Todays technology is something ! Our dear Italian member/friend was quite adamant about Don is wrong, this or that is right,,its a new day.. Well,,lets just say they are both right, both wrong.. I found a small article about the HR with a tiny drawing and sent it to our Italian member.. A guess a little shocked but we came to an agreement... Maybe hes is writing a 2nd book about the HR?. But I made sure my period line drawing was small, not so clear, maybe missing something...

There are some nice HRs shown here to study. Those of you who have the 'one lookers' feel good and proud and hold on to them,,the market will get better and they are something special..... , enjoy and happy hunting, G.

: Link Credit WAF:

Posting this here again to honor Peps collecting career.

No need to be a member there as the photos don't matter that much.. But if your interested in the HR construction 'debate',, I urge you to read the last couple pages;, thanks, Gaspare
