We have an old topic from 05 that will probably be gone soon. Trying this new technique to save it from going..
Also, please feel free to add on any cufflinks you have that are 3rd reich period from Axis and Allied alike!

*shortly it will be moved here, thanks, G.

And here are some advertized in DEN SVENSKE - newspaper of the Swedish SSS. They feature the Vasakarva - a Fasce-like symbol of the great Swedish king Vasa. Earlier, the cufflinks had Swastikas, as that was the symbol of the NSAP which in -38 moderated itself a bit. To the regret of many old members, I might add.

Sveaborg , I moved your commemrative Vasakarve ring to the axis ring topic, a excellent ring also!!

The cufflinks shown here on this topic, they are from my file photos.

I don't think there was a pair that sold over $200 !

Another swas.and colors, has some enamel damage

members,,if you see more, even if there old saved photos please post. If you know who to credit, please do...

'Cufflinks' have some different backs: proper names are:
*Cuff buttons, totally ridged.
*Hinged cuff buttons, one side or both attached by a hinge.
*'Cuff links' which had both piece attached just by a link.
* Toggle, movable bar to rear.

Haven't seen any interesting 3rd reich cufflinks around lately I though I'd bring this old topic back up..

* Remember members,, we just don't have 2 pages of topics here on the ring forum,,there are really 32 back pages and you must switch over if you aren't finding something you know must be here while doing a 'Search'...

Needing a a better display case for my cufflinks I for now put them in a padded box. Next show I'll find something better/unique to put them in.

Gaspare; the Wolfsangel cufflinks...There exist a Dutch stormtroopers ( equivalent of the German SA) pin, that was identical, same black enamel and silvered or silver Wolfsangel.

Thats really a great find. The big leader so far for 2011! grin

When you get a chance please show the brass looking pair and the Party pin types.. The party in types got to be early,, they really frowned on things like that once the war started..

@Dean:
The box is an old jewelers-box from the netherlands. Inside a real cheap made swastika/oakleaf ring.
In this thread are some better pics:

@Gaspare:
No problem - i sure make pics from the others and post them.

@Mikee:
Wish you good luck in hunting!!

yeah, cufflinks are harder to find than rings!
Those party pin types are very rare. Wonderfull lot you got there.
The unmade set remenmd me of a ring pattern. The gold plated ,,all really wonderfull pieces!

Very informative thread I have just stumbled upon. Here is my addition to it. I rarely like SS cufflinks due to the slew of fakes that predominate the market, but I am comfortable with these.

years ago a Belgium collector owned the die for these cufflinks. It was actually a working die for a button. I own a ring like this and a friend had a single cufflink like Craigs, and they both fit into the die perfectly!
I do have a photo of the die,,where it is I don't know but will try to find and post.

And, important the reverse of Craigs links, from a button like Assmann and the other manufactures that made both buttons and links, etc. ,, ,yeah, I like them too..

Sadly no Jim. Could have been any of the pre RZM and latter RZM [1934] button manufactures Or those making insignia, uniform fittings and even sub-contractors [M2]..

These came to me from a consignor for the upcoming auction, and I liked them very much. They aren't the best quality - certainly the lower end of the totem poll. Lets just say that Ribbentrop wouldn't have worn these!

A little something different. A pattern Don used to call the SS Presentation Honor cufflinks. They were cause of much debate and trouble years ago. Nothing has ever been proved one way or the other. One thing for sure 100%,,J.v.Ribbentrop owned a pair. There were probably more and some do reside in private collections..

These photos are from the WAF e-stand. A month ago or so this one cufflink was offered for sale. Rather inexpensive. Only explained as:
Found in a old jar with other old cufflinks. There is only one.
The toggle is different than the ones out there being decorated on back. Markings are 835, the SS culture mark and nothing else, no date, no maker.

This is from the '[new name] 'Odal cufflink hoard'.

A large hoard was found of NOS cufflinks, hinged cuff buttons, also partial made pairs, documentation from manufacturer, along with stic pins made by the same:

Some great new stuff!

The ones on the first new pic. Are this two salesmen examples?

The "Frisch Fromm Fröhlich Frei" ones could be very old too.
These colours (black/red/gold) are common since 1832.

Concerning the cufflinks that are Party Pins..

On another forum these and the others from the hoard were called outright fakes, fantasy.
Reason is/was that the 'Party' would never let 'kitch' such as those be on the market.
There was even documentation stating no use of official party emblem to be used as jewelry blah blah blah crazy

Well, from a period 3rd reich publication,,,Party Pin cufflinks! , so guys,,even though I'm guilty myself of saying it sometimes,,'Never say never!!!

I don't get to share much here but I can show this stickpin. It might be of interest. The swas. on this pin was silver plated with the rest gold.

Thanks Vern!! all due to the willingness of these members here to want to learn and most of all share!!

FJR,,,Those are very interesting...
Is it a push thru 'button' type [solid mount] or is it a 'toggle'?

Are there any markings anywhere?

The eagle device appears to be the same they used on the rings,,I will check my ring...

What is the black background material of the cartouche? , and the links themselves?, plated steel? zinc?

Got yesterday evening this real nice made spanish ones. I think the ground material of the plates is brass or copper, gold plated.
Interesting for me are the two different colours of the used gold in the decor.
Enjoy:

Good eyes there Odal!!
More than likely they are! Many were made from buttons. Evidence in the Assmann catalog [I think shown earlier here in this topic] and in others.. Examples like the RAD, Heer, Luft, these KM and SS cufflinks were made from buttons sometimes..

Hello members
Here is a unusual pair of NSDAP cuff links shows the Alcoso scale trademark has nice enamel with silver coating as shown
wondering if they were made by the Alcoso dagger company
Enjoy

These are really nice pair! Nothing wrong with them..

No reason why Alcoso wouldn't be making these early on [prob. pre war].

Most Nazi dagger firms probably started out making every day silverware[spoons, forks, knives, etc.] and other things.
They had many associates that would make a certain piece they didn't make or bought, lets say as example, leather from other firms for straps or had the other firms actually make the leather piece complete and send to them for use.
Pre war when items like these cufflinks were very popular Alcoso would cut the dies/make the tooling for these and maybe sent to a 'friend firm' [that specialized in] enamel and there you go a pair of links for sale to your friendly neighborhood Nazi.
*OR,,Alcoso simply made them complete...
There was a lot of co operation pre war with semi like firms..

Once the war started pieces like these were kind of frowned upon by the party and less and less were made and sold and firms like Alcoso went from making dress daggers to other things to support the war effort..

Vern, Andy, & 'other dagger guys' Do you guys know of other products these dagger firms made during wartime?,,maybe mess kits, buttons, armaments pieces?

They look like silverd brass.
I have still seen some very similar/close ones, but not with this manufacturers mark.

hi odel/members
yes these nsdap cuff links are silvered on brass and i believe that alcoso firm made them early on then turned thier dies around for outher items like dagger parts etc. just like here in america at the time we had remington rand typeriters that firm made 45 cal pistols rock ola made juke boxes then made 30 cal carbines and there were more fims all over making what was asked of them for the war effert and now we are writing about what we found thier treasures that very few collectors have seen guess this old saying still stands we are the keepers of this historical history stay well meine friends andy militarynut

IMO I would have to humbly disagree that the marks shown on both cuff links are that of Alexander Coppel for various reasons. The marks shown look much like the mark of Robert Dyckerhoff of Pforzheim. And yes I have seen this mark before and on cuff links. Thank you.

I got to apologize,, been living out of cardboard boxes now for a little over a year. Hopefully soon something will happen.
Relates because I am helpless without my TARDYs silver hallmark book! grin [packed somewhere].
And,,usually whatever Tardy does not have the silver forums do! [all my passwords gone] so,,,

*Great work Mikee!! I agree: Robert Dyckerhoff of Pforzheim makes much more sense.

Here's the reverse of a piece of jewelry they made. There's your mark Andy! Thanks again Mikee!

Thanks much, Far from knowledgeable, but a true fanatic when it comes to marks so I recognized that mark right away. Just remember that Robert Dyckerhoff isn't the only one that used the scales mark. I wish we had a thread for all the unknown marks that members have posted over the years. I would love to view them!

Hap,,,on my laptop they look like they have a chance... On a full size screen I see what could be a dot under eagles neck,,,,and,, now see dots [maybe] on right one [decorative edge]..Actually see a dot on both on the side designs,,but think they are part of the design..
IF someone really wanted them,,,and there was a good return privilege, would be worth to see them in hand..

Very few 'good' rings, and cufflinks out there. With these bad ******** photos all the time sometimes a in hand is the only way...

And,,I don't understand... These sellers are moving a lot of items and /or expensive items and they can't buy a decent camera and practice a bit for the adverts!

I bet there is reason why they "can't afford" good camera smile Even modern cell phone camera can get decent macro picture...

I don't know Hap,,I'd put my 5 years old Nikon up against any new cell phone!
Even better though than those 2,,,are the USB digital photographic microscopes! They plug into USB ports and boom your taking shots inside of hallmarks laugh ,now days you can get a decent one for under $20 !!!

Byz. , yeah a few good pieces at the MAX. IF I remember right the links were good, but the box was French.. Possible?, maybe!

Those are really very nice....I can imagine it's the set for a party bigwig for special occasions, like a gauleiter or something? Do you think it's early, like late 20s early 30s ? (It looks a little Art Deco on the sides of the links)...?

What does drv stand for? I just saw a small rectangular pennant at this show today that had the same insignia, a wooden pole (small) and something like "kontrolle" on it?

I used to own a pair of these. They were very common years ago.. Now probably rare to find..
Cheap but they did the trick.
Spanish made,,they showed the Spanish, Italian and German [Luftwaffe] emblems..

BYZ,, I posted that single Luft on the MAX topic then it got deleted from my 'mind of its own laptop' crazy grin

Anyway,,, here is a nice SS pair from my files...

At the MAX there was a mint pair like this. I really wanted them,,think the guy was asking $850!,
, IF I was a cufflink only guy and could have gotten him down a bit maybe,,they were mint though!

I'd like to someday get a pair like this.. I hope there is a authentic ring something like this but so far everything has been fake.

The backs are very important. I'd say many cufflinks are from button manufacturers. Plain to see in this photo and many you'll see will have this back,,I'd say a good 50/50..

on the plain side. But the quality was there. A real early set,,they were in decent condition..
We're seeing even less cufflinks than authentic rings. The good stuff is getting harder and harder to get!

Here we have a standard pair of Luft. cufflinks. These also are getting very hard to find.. At the big shows maybe you will 1 or 2 pairs,,usually none,,well authentic anyway wink

These have a flat silver wash to them which came off pretty fast.. These are in nice condition..

Remember when looking at them,,they should be multi piece construction. These, the Heer, KM,SS cufflinks were made by the same firms that made buttons and all more or less look like these do..........

hi lore
members the above ss f m cufflinks from lore in my opinion are usually not used for cuff links they were used mostly for button holes in the uniform to show any one that they were contribited to the ss fund and i believe they were made by the only firm zoll some were marked zoll and some were not i have a pair of dutch ss b l safety pin backs both lores and mine are very scarce to find in todays market anything belgium/dutch/norweign ss items are very scarce good luck finding them i will be putting mine up on my site militarynut.com soon thanks again guys god bless all andy militarynut

Those really are cool Lore, rare too.. I do believe Andy called it perfect, they really look like buttonhole sS FM supporter member pins instead of stickpins for the lapel, right in the button slot. I would guess it slides in pointy side first -super nice man, a pair no less!! Congrats that two rare birds in one nest!

about 20 years ago I had the same exact ones.. Everyone told me the same thing,,they are for the lapel...

Now they should be exactly as the standard stick pin type.. Are they?
- on the back should also be the same exact as the pin type. Are they the same hallmarkings?

Maybe even do a enamel check... The pins from the Riker cases are best! Get one RED hot and touch the black,,,IF authentic nothing should happen..

They are very nice looking,,whether stick pins or for lapel wear...
