Heavy Athletic Badge:
I had posted pictures of this badge awhile back and received no comments. I now know why. I had the badge examined by a noted authority and his response is not only is it totally original but an extremely rare badge to boot! This particular example was awarded for wrestling.

I have never seen another one for sale and the only pictured example I have is in "Political and Civil Awards of the Third Reich" by Angolia on Page 246.

Jim

Angolia's book has a bronze pictured, I assume yours is silver. Very nice find.

Detlev shows it in his latest tome, P359. Came in gold, silver & bronze, plus cloth versions for each level. He also shows a stickpin version & Leistungsbuch for one.

Cheers

Around 2001, Robert Noss, photosammler, posted an in wear photo of the Heavy athletics badge. It was unfortunatly lost in the site changeover but perhaps if someone wished to contact him he would be so kind as to repost it to this thread.

Thanks for all the additional info. The back of mine is marked exactly the same as the one in Detlevs book and the pin arrangement is also identical.
