Thanks PCGOLF, I thought it belonged to FullRohemOwner but I was too lazy to look back.

It is mine guys. From what I read about the recent show prices and the prices people are getting on ebay, I thought this might be a good time to sell it.

I don't think it would ever be a good time to sell that. I just sold a couple of ss daggers one a partial (due to medical expences) and I think about it every day since. Pull that auction.

Not really - I kind of thought Mike was starting to feel the same way I do about what I would consider a "family heirloom". Nothing personal against Mike for his decision (sometimes the "Franklin's" speak to you!), but I don't think I could make the same decision . . .

I have wrestled with holding onto it vs selling it ever since someone from this site was kind and honest enough to inform me of its value and significance.
It is a family heirloom - no doubt. And the decision to sell it has not been an easy one.
My wife and I have two small kids and putting them into private schools is costly. No offense to those of you who have kids in public schools but many of them here stink. The money would go right into their savings accts and 529s for school.
If it makes the reserve I will sell it. If not, I will hold onto it.
I appreciate your interest and genuine concern for keeping this piece in the family.
My reserve is quite high - so it is likely I will keep it.

Nice dagger and rare. But it is all about condition. As many collectors would agree, the condition is more important than rarity of the piece.
Unless someone tries to restore this one, it is not worth the money. IMO

why do you take our advice as criticism?
all the oppinions on this dagger ,as to value and condition, i have read have been honest and fair
however much you want this to be a $15000 dagger it will never be
in my oppinion its worth $6000 if you think i am criticising your dagger by expressing this oppinion then i guess i am but please stop asking !!

This dagger not worth 15000$ now. May be in 20 years considering the inflation... IMO

READ - I didn't begin this thread AND I'M NOT ASKING YOUR OPINION!

you have asked members of this forum for their oppinion as to value and rarity on more then one occasion .when you get an answer you do not like its criticism
keep the dagger sell the dagger i really dont care but i will say again it is not worth anyware near $15.000 the grip is all but missing and the blade is in poor condition its like asking full wak for a corvette with its engine missing

Wrong Again - I had offers of $8K, $10K and $12K. I was TOLD by someone who is an actual expert on these daggers that it could possibly bring $15K. By the way, two of the above offers were from members of this site. This was last year in 2006.
Less than one fifth of the handle is missing / broken. It can be repaired - again, stated by a well known and respected EXPERT.
With that said, I'M STILL NOT ASKING FOR YOUR OPINION!

i only have 11 at the moment including a full rohm and a himmler last year i bought and sold around 20 would you class me as an expert?
the grip can not be invisible repaired what ever the expert told you a person who is going buy your dagger will be an experienced collector and will see the repair a mile off.
you are not a collect just a person luckily enough to inherit a nice item either keep it ,and buy a ground rohm eickhorn and swop the grip, or sell it for the $12,00 you say you were offered but stop with the bleating

Well, you got one thing right. I am NOT a collector. I have stated so more than once.
As far as who is right and who is wrong about the dagger, it is obvious that when I am offered double what you say it is worth - then YOU are wrong.
The value of anything is what another is willing to pay for it. Read Econ 101.
Frankly, none of this is any of your business.

Yea,
The guy had an initial bid and was then outbid. He put in a bid of $9K to find out what the higher bid was. He then retracted his bid of $9K. I reported him to ebay (for all the good it will do) and then removed his initial bid and barred him from bidding on my listing any further.

I have a question. Why doesn't eBay cancel this listing? They cancel so many others.

I made sure not to use SS in the Heading and have not displayed any photos of the front of the handle. These are the two symbols (I think) they object to.

It really doesnot matter if you show them or not if it is a dagger, E bay will cancell the bid anyhow. You cant sell German daggers on E bay with the Nazi symbols. They will cancell it even if you do not show any single picture just the description will be enough to cancell the auction.

ebay does not police its own site it waits for someone to complain then removes the offending item without asking the seller. if you list a questionable item without showing the bad bits you can sometimes get away with it
i bought a 33 klass with a mint blade, and i mean mint, but very scruffy fittings that was listed as a german knive ,their spelling not mine fullrohmowner!, with a full set of photos just before christmas for very little money

Sounds like a good buy. My guess is that once it is noticed by someone likes to censor anything they disagree with, it will get pulled - especially if the value goes up.

By the way, I heard on the news this morning that Great Britain is now demanding the release of their sailors and marines from the Iranians.

Even with a broken grip this is still a rare and nice dagger. Good Luck with your sale and I hope you get your asking price. It is true that eban is full of snitches. Most of the time I think theyn get items booted so they think they can get it cheaper?

Nick is correct. The person reporting you will be the one that is watching or bidding on your item.

They're not prepared to go the distance so they report you with the incentive of buying it via the backdoor. Item is removed and all those following it are notified.

They will then email you asking if you still have it for sale. This has happened to myself and it was joyous to inform them that they were too late and I have just sold it for a few £s
