Hi guys
I would like any opinions on this sword.
I have two third reich etched dove head swords in my collection and they both are in the Pack catalog, but not this etch.
Did anyone ever seen same etch on sword made by Pack.
I have found partial picture in Angolia sword book, where showing same etch, but on Pack Mining official sword.
You can see same pommel and guard, but mine is with the eagle.
Look on last four pictures.
Thanks

A very nice saber, smile for a more precise answer it may take a detailed Pack catalog to see what they offered in that time period. Speaking generally, the blade has some Imperial style motifs for the German Army with their sabers oftentimes expropriated for other entities which is why (IMO) that style etch might be seen on a mining sword. But for the TR era plain blades what is seen for the most part is a reversal of the Imperial era practice where almost all officer's swords were etched. (As well as quite a few of the EM types (Imperial era) which routinely are sometimes misidentified by some dealers/others as officer's swords.) With this saber appearing to be most likely a period special order in between the plain blades, and the completely made to order examples with personalized etches. Well Done!! smile smile Best Regards, Fred

Thank you Fredy
Here is the picture from the Pack catalog where you can see that the Mining etch were completely different.

Ivan, I think I understand what you are saying but I’m a little confused. The sword pictured with photo ID: mini-P6170020 shows a stylized M1873 cavalry saber along with what is probably the M1852 which are crossed. Photo ID: mini-P6170023 shows the crossed muzzle loading cannon typical of artillerymen with some sabers in the background one of which is the M1852. All of which are typical for some Imperial era swords/sabers. The hilt/langet of the mining saber in Angolia seems to be just that, as does the just posted Bergbau etching pattern in the Pack catalog. Is it the Imperial style military etching that you are asking about? Best Regards, Fred

Thank you Fred
Yes,it is confusing
All of those pictures are from one sword.
One side of the blade have crossed swords and on other side have a crossed cannons.
It is also double marked.
The imperial etch with the eagle on the langet.
It must to be some special order.

Regards
