Gents,

I finally have some time on my hands and want to make some felt bags for all my daggers and swords. I am interested to make them to resemble period bags as close as possible. If you have any period bags or have pictures of period bags then please post them. I am looking to make bags for SA, heer daggers & Heer swords, luft daggers & swords. Obviously if you have examples for different daggers they are also welcome.

Your help is appreciated!

Thanks, Peter Jan Kwakernaak

Hello kwakernaak, I think that the problem in your request is, that all collectors want to avoid fakes. And have to do this today more than ever. All what is shown in detail is/will be faked. I am aware of already faked dagger papaer bags and naturally also felt bags. One of them is a -still badly- faked WKC felt cover and PACK saber covers.
Now I do own a lot of these felt bags, for daggers and swords/sabers, with zipper and cord, with extern grip and without, with leather enhancement and without. Also those grip felt bags from EICKHORN and WKC.
But, please apologize, I would never show them in detail becaus it is very important for any collector that there are certain criteria left due to which you can recognize originals from fakes.
I am aware of your totally honest wish to do them for yourself, but nobody can guarantee that these at any time get into the collectors market. And nobody can guarantee that any pics are not used by fakers. ANYTHING in the net is stolen by crooks!
You do know roughly how these bags look like. For storage purpose I personally would produce more or less simple felt bags which might (only) roughly are alike original bags.
These are just my personal thoughts to such matter. I hope you do understand what I mean and donīt see any personal insult.
Regards,

Indeed my intension is not to copy and market fake bags..just want to make something that looks good with the daggers and swords that I have. Even if I tried I think my sewing skills would not even come close and fool anybody.

Sharing or not sharing info is up to you. Strange that you feel so strongly about felt bags, but have no problem sharing everything else, including the most expensive daggers which would actually be worth faking.

Anyway..that's OK.

Kind regards,

Peter Jan.
