I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on these helmets. On the first one, you can see traces of a decal. Any ideas on what kind of decal it was? The second helmet looks to have had a coat of red paint on it. Thanks for your help!

Also, could anyone tell me what model helmets these are? There are no liners in them. These were vet bring backs but look as if they were kept in a barn or some other outside environment.

Hi - I'm not a helmet guy but I'd guess u need some more pix. The reddish one I'm just looking at the vent hole and guessing m35 maybe the rivet came out but pix of the inside would help a lot just imo . Good luck!

Your first helmet is an original WW1 helmet, the second is a late ww2 m42. Both are salty shells that thankfully have not been repainted. They are both worth around $150 if you were to buy on eBay, I wouldn't buy them for more than $100 personally, but they are great untouched relics if you are looking for your first helmet.

On second look the ww2 shell may have had post war red paint, there is possibly a faint decal either Heer or Luftwaffe. If you can see the inside blue paint would be Luft, green would be Heer. The WW1 helmet does not have a decal, but probably post war decoration by the vet would be my guess, but I could be wrong. It's possible the German put the symbol there, but I doubt it.

Upon more research of the first helmet, it seems that it is a WWI German guard corps helmet. The faint decal on mine matches a picture that I found online.
